Geometry — Markdown Edition
A complete Markdown conversion of Harold R. Jacobs, Geometry: Seeing, Doing, Understanding (3rd edition), made from the chapter PDFs in the parent folder. The source files are page scans, so the text was transcribed from the page images rather than copied from an OCR layer.

Layout
Markdown/
Chapter_NN.md one file per chapter or review section
Appendices.md
figures/chNN/ figures for that chapter
figures/appx/ figures for the appendices
Every figure is cropped from a 360 dpi render of the source scan, colour corrected and saved as JPEG. The book’s own caption is kept as an italic line under the image, and the image alt text gives a short factual description so the figure still makes sense in a plain-text reader or if the image fails to load.
Conventions
<!-- page N -->marks the start of a printed book page, so any passage can be traced back to the PDF. Front matter uses<!-- page N (front matter) -->.- Headings follow the book:
##for lessons and major sections,###for exercise sets, constructions, definitions, and theorems. - Key terms are bold where the book introduces them; emphasis and book titles are italic.
- Exercises keep the book’s numbering, including the restarts at each Set and the printed “(continued)” items.
- Formulas, fractions, and algebra reviews use LaTeX (
$...$,$$...$$). Symbols such as ∠, °, ×, −, △, and √ are kept as Unicode. - Two-column pages were reflowed: the left column is read fully, then the right, and sentences that continue across columns or pages are merged.
- Handwritten teacher annotations in the scan margins are not transcribed. Printed oddities, typos, and unusual numbering are preserved as printed.
- Tables that were printed as text (proofs, property lists, answer charts) were rebuilt as Markdown tables; diagrams and facsimile pages were cropped.
Rebuilding
Chapters were assembled from per-page Markdown sources containing figure tags:
@@FIG ch01_p009_f1 0.115 0.050 0.330 0.122 | Alt text @@
The four numbers are fractions of the page width and height, so they do not depend on the render resolution. An assembler script crops each figure from the 360 dpi page image and writes the chapter file.
