I default to training them on parallettes, because it is honestly so much easier to get that neutral wrist position. It’s always humbling to try any of the static holds directly on the ground.

Stair Jump Variations 🐇 Stair jumps are a hybr Stair Jump Variations 🐇

Stair jumps are a hybrid plyometric skill that mash-up the height of a box jump with the distance of a broad jump. 

To perform them, you first ought to be comfortable doing either skill (broad jump or box jump) solo. Once your take off and landing mechanics are dialed in, here is a progression to try: 

  1.  Two-legged take off and landing
2. Single-leg take off and landing
3. Single/double leg take off and landing combos.

A few things to consider:
- Start with smaller amplitude motions
- Aim for quiet landings
- Minimize foot contact with the ground 
- Try to stick your final landing with a clean precision

Inverted Pushing Strength Progression 🤸‍♂️🤸‍♂️

1. Pike Push-up
2. Jackknife Push-up 
3. Parallette Jackknife Push-up
4. Handstand Push-up

Build enough strength in each precursor movement that you can do multiple sets of  at least 3-5 reps before advancing. If you don’t have the strength to hold the top of a position, don’t try lowering yet. And, of course, be ready to bail if your arms give out.

A good intermediate step to build strength for one of the more advanced skills, is to focus on just the eccentric/lowering phase. Lower your self down slowly, then get out of the position and walk your feet and arms back to the starting point.

If you are wanting to level up your strength training but can’t seem to land any new iron, get creative and add a resistance band to whatever you’ve got. 

Here are a few exercises that transform nicely by adding a resistance band to your kettlebell: 

1. Single leg RDL
2. Goblet curl
3. 3-point row

There are so many more you could come up with. Be flexible in how you attach and tension the band. I had to double it up for the RDL.

Chicken winging is practically impossible due to the amount of balance and coordination needed to get over the bar. In fact, they feel oddly good to these aging shoulders.
