MovNat Medical: Clinical Applications of Natural Movement – Albuquerque, NM

This course is for practicing medical professionals (e.g. physical therapists, chiropractors, athletic trainers, nurses, etc.).
September 17, 2022 – September 18, 2022
MovNat Medical is the most complete and fundamental movement course for practicing medical clinicians available, anywhere. It will soon be the industry standard. If you are serious about teaching integrated movement instead of only isolated “exercises” to your patients, this first-of-its-kind course will give you a deep dive into why Natural Movement is trusted by health professionals all around the world.
Description
This course is truly unique in that it teaches how to integrate Natural Movement applications in a medical/clinical treatment plan. We will teach you how to use Natural Movement training to treat clinical pathologies, covering the musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and cardiopulmonary patient as well as psychosocial impacts of movement. Most importantly, you will learn how to think and talk about movement as a medical professional. You’ll learn that it has a specific language, foundations, and progressions that are not taught in medical school. We’ll teach you how to safely and progressively rebuild the movement capability of your patients from the ground up.
*Approval for additional CEUs is pending

Who is this course for?
This course is specifically geared toward licensed medical professionals, including but not limited to Doctors of Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, Osteopathy and other professionals that treat movement disorders (e.g. Athletic Trainers, Nurses, etc.).

The goal is to learn how to teach, integrate, and progress Natural Movement into your treatment plan of care with a focus beyond healing and into the realm of restoring full function as a human being; not just a diagnosis.
The MovNat Method has two very important elements: education and real life clinical application. MovNat has never been (and never will be) a one-size fits all philosophy. Knowing how to integrate the skills into your patients’ care plans is instrumental in the success of your patient outcomes, and this is obvious in its global use in the clinics.
This course is all about the basics. We show you something that is very rarely taught well in school: how movements are broken down, how to teach them to your patients, and most importantly, how and why to use each skill. We start with the essentials that everybody needs: Ground Movement, Crawling, Deep Squats, Get Ups and Get Downs, Hanging, and Balance. You will be able to integrate these skills into each and every patient’s plan of care, bringing more excitement and interest to their program. You don’t have to worry about compliance because natural movements are already part of their day and evolutionary biology.

This MovNat Medical course is very hands-on and focuses on clinical reasoning and decision making – all the way. We don’t just tell you, we show you. And then you show us and you teach us. This is the only way to really learn how to teach movement. Before you show up, you’ll be expected to have absorbed the study materials. You will be provided with a detailed course manual and video library covering all the movements and concepts we will be discussing at the course.

In 2007, Phil joined the top one percent of the Doctors of Physical Therapy in the country by becoming an APTA Board Certified Specialist in Sports (SCS). Dr. Lombardo has integrated his MovNat practice into the clinical setting from day one and has also participated in teaching several MovNat Elements Workshops and Level 1 & 2 Certifications. He has also taught at Columbia University, Dominican College, as well as numerous continuing education courses and speaking engagements at dozens of local high schools.
Phil’s expert knowledge and experience as a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), a MovNat Certified Trainer (MCT), a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a Sports Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), and a Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) has distinguished him as a provider of choice in Sports Medicine and makes him uniquely qualified to develop and teach this MovNat Medical course.
Phil says, “Imagine spiraling uncontrollably downward, unsure of what our future holds or how to help ourselves. Through this informative course, MovNat gives you a clear map to help wake up and see a clear path to give patients the answers they’re looking for. What better way to connect with and provide care for our patients than manual therapy combined with instinctual, evolutionary movement patterns. We have to acknowledge that isolated t-band exercises just don’t cut it and we need to do more to meet the needs of beautifully complex human beings. The ability to combine manual joint mobilizations with the foundations of Natural Movement is pure GOLD!”

Testimonials
(from medical professionals who really dig MovNat)

“I found MovNat out of a love for functional movement on a personal level. After becoming certified as a trainer, I quickly realized that MovNat can and should be applied in a clinical setting as well. I’ve been able to apply the terminology and movement regressions/progressions with a diverse population. It has also taught me that sometimes the most effective exercises require no equipment at all, and that every body is capable of tapping into their natural movement skills, when given the right coaching. This physical education system is exactly what PT school is missing!” – Dr. Bryan Lynd, PT, DPT, TPI CGFI, MCT

“When you walk into Langford Sports & Physical Therapy, you might notice something different about the exercises. Most of our physical therapists are certified MovNat instructors, and we often use MovNat skills and regressions as part of our therapeutic exercise programs. Why? For me at least, I use them because there is a goal at the end. Our jobs as physical therapists are to develop programs which are progressive, beginning at the client’s current level and progressing, ideally, to functional movements they use in daily life and for recreational activities…If you’re a physical therapist and have been considering getting certified, I can say with confidence that you won’t regret it. Your repertoire of functional exercises will increase immensely, and you will have access to many more movements that are motivating and engaging. Exercises your patients will DO, because they can measure and feel their own improvement.“– Dr. Jenny Ploss, PT, DPT, Level 2 MovNat Certified Trainer

“I have a clinical doctorate in physical therapy, and I specialize in orthopedics. I re-connected to MovNat when Gray Cook, a physical therapist and the founder of the Functional Movement System, started doing some work with Erwan Le Corre. I have been a huge fan of Gray’s work for over 10 years because he focuses on quality movement and the holistic approach by assessing patients as a whole instead of chasing pain or impairments. I think many of my patients need more specific instructions like what the MovNat course teaches when they are re-learning skills or learning to be more efficient. I have also incorporated various unique MovNat exercises to my patients’ therapy to keep them engaged and learn to move more efficiently and safely. This applies to all ages and all diagnoses. I have gained more tools in my toolbox as a physical therapist to help my patients and athletes recover from injuries and prevent future injury.” – Dr. Aika Yoshida, DPT
