Petri just remarked in another thread, that the Danse Macabre artwork is amazing and I agree completely.

My question: Since I can't imagine that *all* of the artists work for free, I wonder what (or who) is the source for this funding?

It's my understanding that in this particular case they have volunteered the art (I guess they keep the copyright for them).
Even a broken clock is right twice a day

There has been no funding for the artwork other than a symbolic 1€ per piece.

All the illustrations for Danse Macabre are volunteer work.
