Given the comments in this thread so far I'd be glad to expand the legal window for games for the entire month of October (1st-31st).
this is a good news, since I also need more time to organize a couple of games with those rules
by the way I stare the werewolfes page on the pdf for a few minutes before reconize the names from Rage CCG, nice background flavor

If we are just going to do one storyline this year, why not make it one that everyone can participate instead of limiting it over some perceived link to something else.Lönkka wrote: With this year's EC everybody can actually get in the action too since the storyline doesn't require players being at the EC's premises.
So quit your whining and use the time you now use for it to build a deck for it/playing the event
Anyway, a big thank you to Mike for designing the storyline event and extending the deadline.

Isn't that entirely up to the tournament organizer and storyline coordinator?the1andonlime wrote: If we are just going to do one storyline this year,
Like said, Mike has stated previously that if you want a storyline for your event, all you need to do is ask.
But dahlin', everyone can since you don't need to be at the EC to participate.the1andonlime wrote: why not make it one that everyone can participate instead of limiting it over some perceived link to something else.

Hmm. Segregation by location vs global event. Methinks the latter better helps the community. At any rate, nothing else happened, so we might as well be having only one this year.Lönkka wrote:

Also, it is not quite so simple as "ask and it shall be given". In my end of the woods, getting people to fly in for one weekend of V:tES is possibly doable once a year. Getting them to fly in for one week plus the weekend once a year, not so much. Additionally, 3 countries with a total of 4 regions means that doing a separate storyline event is a little pointless.
Given the current state of the game, making players feel like they are a part of a global whole instead of giving the impression that we are each on our own seems like a better move.
Extending the deadline shows that VEKN cares about the players, especially since there were requests to that effect.
Not saying that this event is not good, but shouldn't there be a storyline event aimed at the global level before looking at one for individual events?
Not the point. The short deadline still acts as a limit. As an extreme example, this event could be announced at the onset of the EC weekend and then given a deadline of 2 days, but still open to worldwide participation, which means you don't have to be at the EC to participate, but effectively have to be anyway (I applaud playgroups that can come together to do an event on such short notice, but mine definitely cannot).Lönkka wrote:

Even the initial deadline of one week limits global participation severely, making it for all intents and purpose for the EC players only.

It is not meant to be playable for an extended period of time.
It has already been extended to anybody as long as they play it during the event.
Clearly here we have a case where success (of making a special event) can be a failure (people getting frustrated because of the limitations that apply to it).

Two things:Lönkka wrote: It is a storyline for a certain event.

- first and foremost, there is no mention on the homepage announcement that this is an EC exclusive event, therefore, it is not wrong for players worldwide to expect it to be globally inclusive. That it coincides with the EC and revolves around the general geographical region where the EC is being held is just a nice touch.
- second, and more importantly, Mike obviously put effort into this event, and if the intent is just to have it for the EC players when there hasn't been a global storyline this year, given the state of the game, and that VEKN "is the Official V:TES Players' Organization dedicated to the continued health of V:TES", I really have to question if this much effort shouldn't be put into the benefit of the entire community instead of a subset of it.
IMO, one storyline event this whole year with reasonable chance of global participation is good; no storyline event this whole year is not as good but not terrible; one storyline event this whole year seemingly favouring a subset of the community is bad.
