Rings from the basketball hoop are a great idea! I suppose you even throw-up some TRX-style suspension trainers for a variety of other bodyweight movements, like split squats, et cetera.

Where I live (a co-op) there’s a basketball court where there’s enough space behind the basket to put up my gymnastic rings. Once the co-op closed our Fitness Room a few weeks ago, I bought a pair and have been using them ever since: https://images.philipbrewer.net/view.php?p=15859452703245

Today I did some rhomboid rows (to offset the rhomboid pushups I’ve been doing for 4 years now, without enough work on the antagonistic muscles).

Since people can’t gather in groups, the basketball court is mostly idle most days, with just the occasional person shooting baskets by himself, which means I can put up my rings almost anytime I want.

That’s great to hear, Philip! I’m glad PST can still be a resource during these strange quarantine days. Where have you been training? I’m itching to get back into the parks once the social distancing ban is lifted!

In particular, the emphasis on wall dips over pushups, and the section on landings (which is just as much a section on jumps). All good stuff that is already informing my workouts. Thanks!

Comment on Thinking about opening a parkour gym? Matt Antis shares his experience. by Ben Musholt https://www.benmusholt.com/parkour/opening-a-parkour-gym/#comment-1708 Sat, 11 Apr 2020 17:35:15 +0000 http://parkourconditioning.com/?p=604#comment-1708 In reply to Jarrod Kent.

Having a specific college degree isn’t necessary. However, you may want to talk with your insurance agent if having a coaching certification would get you a better rate.

Comment on How to fall without getting hurt by S Nandra https://www.benmusholt.com/injuries/how-to-fall-without-getting-hurt/#comment-1558 Sun, 01 Sep 2019 19:19:11 +0000 https://www.benmusholt.com/?p=1621#comment-1558 its interesting reading about fall after I fell yesterday. I thought I’d practise a fast surprise rotational kick in the park. and instantly, I fell flat on my face with additional impact on the hip. Luckily I had decided not to wear glasses to help ease computer strain. Undoutably, that saved me from facial injury plus it wasn’t hard pavement. my hip is a bit sore, but I can walk. but it is scary. it could have been a lot worse. you cant really prepare for something like this or can you? I swung round to kick, obviously I slipped and fell on my face instantly.
